  No stars, actually: These people are AWFUL. No compassion, rude, disinterested, and they did part of their job wrong when we arrived at the church:
  I was sitting in the lobby during my grandfather's viewing (and they knew I was part of his immediate family): I sat on a substantially sized side table *because there were no available chairs*, one of the staff curtly told me 'don't sit there' rather than providing me with a chair.
  Some man from the Home, without our permission, read some horrible, clichéd poem when the viewing was over, and I emphasize that he was neither asked to do this, nor was the poem chosen by any one in our family.
  When we arrived at the church for my grandfather's Mass, the staff at Dalton's took it upon themselves to serve as pall bearers, although we had CLEARLY stated (obviously clearly, and well in advance) that the men in our family were to do so.
  Over-all they spent their entire time with us, from beginning to burial, rushing us from one moment to the next. It was very , very clear to me that they were simply 'doing business' with us. Do not work with this rotten lot. Use a funeral home that offers evidence that they care a bit about what your family is going through.

  We didn't know at the time why my grandfather put in his wishes, and told everyone who would listen that he wanted his wake to be at Daltons...
  
  My grandmother had no idea as to the specific reason my grandfather insisted, especially since there are like 3 other funeral homes a couple blocks from each other in Hicksville. BUT what we can tell you is that he was right to insist on Daltons!
  
  After seeing what the family run business can offer I only wish that everyone could have as beautiful of a service as my grandfather had. Every employee we came in contact with was extremely professional, understanding and truly took care of everything during this hard time. I cannot urge enough how amazing, above and beyond they did for our family.
  
  They were the silent orchestrators who brought in flowers, kept my grandmother updated on gifts and regarding the flow of things to happen. For the funeral they honored all of our requests and even exceeded with personal touches that made everything perfect. I do not use that word lightly but Dalton funeral home was PERFECT. My grandfather would have loved it, and I'm extremely glad Daltons was chosen, it really helped my family say goodbye properly.

  It seems odd to rate a funeral home but I want people to know that our tragedy and loss was made more bearable by the incredible and compassionate staff at Dalton in Hicksville, NY. They treated our family and all who attended my father's wake with kindness and respect.
